DARPAN DEVICE( PREVIOUSLY IT WAS CALLED AS RICT DEVICE) ISSUE

RICT – Problems and Solution
(i) All GDS/BPMs are waiting extended hours to complete their works through RICT Device due to non availability of network
(ii) The RICT device loggedout automatically if the device is inactive for 2 minutes or more
(iii) Poor response of Finger Print
(iv) Transaction is failed after submit the transaction in most of the time.
(v) Keypad available in the RICT is incompatible .
RICT/DARPAN Device issues and possible Solution

RICT – Problems and Solution, Network Issue :-

Main problem of RICT Device supplied to the Branch Offices is Network problem. The capacity of the Network receiver (2G/3G) available in this device is also very poor. Compared to other device by checking the same network in RICT, the performance of the DARPAN(RICT) device is not upto the level. In few area, the signal strength is more weaker and no devices receives the signal in this case.


#Solutions :
We can not change the Network Devices and there is no other solution for the above problem except the solution mentioned below
(i) External Antenna may improve the signal strength of the RICT Devices. The antenna is available in the local market as well as in Online market such as GeM
OR
Connect the Device with SIFY Network through LAN Cable for better network connectivity by the BPM visiting their account office provided availability of Mac binding free LAN Port.

RICT – Problems and Solution, Server Issue :-

There is another most important problem is RICT Server problem. RICT server capacity is not capable to manage the BO migrated to RICT in Department of Post. If more number of DARPAN Device operated at a time, the transaction gets failed. The transactions failed due to network issue i.e called transmission failure and another one non acceptance of DARPAN Server. The data packets dropped due to server failure. In both the cases, the transactions are to be done at once again through RICT Devices. In some cases, the updation of transactions in the Server done through Device getting delayed. In other words, the report for the transactions done through RICT device could not be generated. In such case, the performance of DARPAN Server should be improved to display the reports immediately whenever transaction completed through machine.

The transactions failed due to network issue or server issue may be fixed in the following ways:

(i) The Application should be improved to avoid the data packet drops or it should be re-transmitted the dropped data packets to central server automatically when the device is back to online. Once the transaction is done in the machine, that should be transmitted to central server and the same should be reflected immediately in the reports.
The only solution for the above is the replacement of exiting handheld devices and all the BPM should be supplied latest devices with high configuration.

The department of posts introduced RICT / DARPAN in Branch post offices in c/w Implementation of Rural ICT project. The GDS BPMs have to perform all kinds of transactions on RICT machines including B.O. Daily Account. DARPAN to be implemented after analysis of network and handheld devices. The main problem in the Device is Network and outed spares used.
